Comparison of curve stakeout methods

Our section previously used the midpoint method for curve stakeout, with the midpoint of the curve as the starting point for stakeout, and stakes placed at 10-metre intervals towards both ends. Finally, breakpoints were established at the straight-to-curve and curve-to-straight transitions at both ends of the curve. However, the curve reports generated by the track inspection instrument analysis software were based on a 10-metre spacing from either the straight-to-curve or curve-to-straight transition point, resulting in inconsistencies between the reported positive deflection values and the actual on-site conditions at the other end of the curve. Therefore, the breakpoint method was adopted, using the straight-to-curve and curve-to-straight transitions at both ends of the curve as starting points, with stakes placed at 10-metre intervals towards the centre of the curve. Finally, break points are established in the middle of the curve, effectively resolving the aforementioned issues.

For odd-length segments (10m < remaining segment length < 20m), using the track alignment K88+639.48 to K89+016.04 as an example, the total length of the curve is 376.56m, with a transition length of 80m. Therefore, the total number of segments n = 376.56/10 = 36 segments + 1 segment (10 + 6.56m), which complies with the odd-numbered segment (10m < remaining segment < 20m)

2. The remaining 16.56 m is 8.28 m on each side of the curve centre point, which is less than 10 m, so a secondary pile must be set up. Odd segments (0m < remainder < 10m)

For example, if the total length of the curve is 366m, then the total number of segments n = 36 + 1 = 37 (6m) (odd segments, 0m < remainder < 10m). Characteristics: The midpoint of the curve is not on the normal point, and there are auxiliary points.

 Entire pile (remainder = 10 m)

If the total length of the curve is 370 m, then the total number of segments n = 36 + 1 = 37 (10 m) (odd number of segments, remainder = 10 m). The midpoint of the curve is not on the normal point, and there are no attachment points.

Entire pile (remainder = 0 m)

If the total length of the curve is 380 m, then the total number of segments n = 38 + 0 = 38 (0 m) (even number of segments, entire pile, remainder = 0 m). Characteristics: The midpoint of the curve is at the normal point, and there are no additional points.
