Operation Instructions for Correcting Sleepers

1、 Applicable scope
Suitable for the square operation of concrete sleepers on ballasted tracks on ordinary speed lines.
2、 Job purpose
The spacing error of square sleepers exceeds the standard or skews the sleepers, ensuring uniform stress on the steel rails and sleepers.
3、 Operating conditions
1. This operation must be carried out within the maintenance or construction skylight point.
2. When operating in seamless track sections, meet the temperature requirements of Article 4.8.6 of the "Repair Rules for Ordinary Speed Railway Lines", and prepare sufficient ballast to prevent expansion of the track track.
4、 Preparation of tools, machinery, and materials
Track gauge, wooden folding rule, tape measure, stone pen, steel rail thermometer, tamping pick, impact pick (with chisel), square sleeper, track lifter, crowbar, ballast fork, pickaxe, etc. Lighting fixtures are required for night work.
5、 Operation process
1. Before homework
(1) The person in charge of the operation shall inspect and verify the various measuring tools used on that day; Check if the track lifter, rail gap adjuster, angle grinder, bolt wrench, and generator are in good condition by the machine operator.
(2) Investigate and mark the direction of movement on the sleepers that require squareness.
(3) After arriving at the work site in the seamless track section, measure the rail temperature first to confirm whether it meets the working rail temperature conditions, ensure that there is no operation when the temperature exceeds the limit, and strictly follow the system of measuring the rail temperature before, during, and after the operation.
(4) After the dispatch order is issued, the on-site person in charge shall confirm that the protective equipment is in place before proceeding to work.
2. Operation process and technical standards
(1) Remove the ballast on one side of the track sleeper in the direction of movement to the bottom of the sleeper, and use a pick to loosen the edge of the sleeper bottom.
(2) Remove or loosen the nails and fasteners that hinder the movement of the sleeper, remove the anti climbing support, and loosen the anti climbing devices and gauge rods that hinder the operation.
(3) Use a squarer to square the sleeper to the correct position.
(4) After completing the square sleeper and checking that the track gauge does not exceed the allowable deviation for operation acceptance, restore the removal of loose road studs and fasteners;
(5) Tighten the anti climbing device, install the anti climbing support, install the gauge rod, and if necessary, repair or replace the support with a new one.
(6) Backfill the excavated ballast into the sleeper box to meet the requirements of the roadbed section.
(7) After the on-site person in charge confirms that the line meets the conditions for releasing the train, organize personnel and equipment to evacuate and handle the cancellation procedures at the station.
3. Post operation and quality acceptance
(1) After operation, the sleepers should be square and perpendicular to the centerline of the line according to the marked position. The spacing error or deviation of the sleepers should not exceed 40mm (20mm for turnouts), and the distance between the aluminum hot welding seam and the edge of the sleepers should not be less than 40mm.
(2) The cross-section of the track bed meets the standards.
(3) The geometric dimensions of the line meet the acceptance standards of the "Rules for Repair of Ordinary Speed Railway Lines".
