Why doesn't the high-speed railway run at night ?
Oct 15, 2021| Why doesn't the high-speed railway run at night ?
People who often take high-speed rail know that there is no shift between 0 a.m. and 6 a.m., which is called "skylight" in the industry. Of course, I mainly refer to the newly-built high-speed railway line. On the old line, there are some EMU berths (crh1e, crh2e and other models of CSR) that will run at night. Why does this waste exist in the eyes of many people?

This period of time is to ensure the equipment maintenance time for the safe operation of high-speed railway. From 0 a.m. to 6 a.m., all kinds of equipment of high-speed railway shall be overhauled, mainly including: the public works section shall inspect the line, the power supply section shall inspect the power supply equipment (such as power supply network), the signal section shall inspect the signal, and of course, our EMU shall return to the warehouse for overhaul and maintenance.

Some people will ask, why can the EMUs on the old line continue to run? Because the speed is different, the maintenance requirements are different, so the maintenance methods are also different. The speed of the old line is below 160 km / h, and the "V-shaped skylight" is adopted, that is, one section of the line is blocked for maintenance, and the other section of the line can continue to run. However, the speed of high-speed railway is fast, and the requirements for maintenance are also high. If the "V-shaped skylight" is adopted, there is a great risk. The high-speed railway line is completely closed, and the speed is fast. When a car suddenly comes, the workers will be blown away even if they pull the protective fence. Therefore, the high-speed railway adopts "vertical skylight" at night and does not operate at night.

In addition, in order to ensure the safe operation of high-speed railway, a confirmation train shall be released before the first train leaves every day without passengers. Before dawn every day, there will be a safety angel, like lightning, across the high-speed railway line that is about to open a busy day, and use its smile to confirm the safety of the high-speed railway line.
