What are the big waist and small waist of railway rails?

To facilitate the identification of different sections of a single rail, the rail is typically divided into several zones along its longitudinal axis using the terms "small waist," "joint," and "large waist," as shown in the figure below. Generally, the section spanning 4 to 6 sleepers at the rail end is referred to as the "small waist"; the section spanning 3 sleepers at the rail end is referred to as the 'joint'; and the remaining central section, excluding the joint and small waist, is referred to as the "large waist." 󠄐󠄹󠅀󠄪󠄡󠄡󠄦󠄞󠄢󠄣󠄡󠄞󠄢󠄤󠄣󠄞󠄦󠄤󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄐 󠅅󠄹󠄴󠄪󠄡󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠄾󠅑󠅝󠅕󠄪󠄡󠄣󠄢󠄧󠄩󠄡󠄩󠄧󠄩 󠄧󠄩󠄬󠅒󠅢󠄟󠄮󠇘󠆭󠆘󠇙󠆝󠅵󠇗󠆭󠆁󠄐󠇗󠅹󠅸󠇖󠆍󠅳󠇖
