Train brake shoes are made of cast iron or other materials made of tile-like brake blocks, during braking to hold the wheel tread, through friction to stop the wheel.

The brake shoe of the locomotive is located on the tread of the wheel. When braking, the two brake shoes before and after the wheel clamp the wheel to achieve the purpose of stopping.

The cast iron shoe is divided into gray cast iron shoe, medium phosphorus shoe, high phosphorus iron shoe and alloy cast iron shoe.

The friction coefficient can be divided into high friction coefficient synthetic brake shoe and low friction coefficient synthetic brake shoe.

Medium phosphorus cast iron brake shoe, high phosphorus cast iron brake shoe and low friction composite brake shoe are general brake shoes.

Synthetic tiles are hot-pressed tiles made from resin, asbestos, graphite, iron powder, barium sulfate, and other materials. Synthetic brake tiles offer the following advantages:

Adjustable friction performance: The friction properties of synthetic brake tiles can be modified by adjusting the formula and manufacturing process.

Excellent wear resistance: These tiles have a long service life, typically lasting 3 to 10 times longer than cast iron brake tiles.

Material savings: They help conserve cast iron materials.

Reduced wheel tread wear: Minimal abrasion on the wheel tread extends the wheel's service life.

Lightweight design: Synthetic tiles are typically only 1/2 to 1/3 the weight of cast iron brake tiles.

It can avoid the fouling of abrasive iron powder and fire accidents caused by brake spraying sparks. There is no or very little abrasive iron powder flying out when the synthetic brake tile is braking, thus it can prevent fire accidents and reduce the adverse effects on electrical equipment;

The coefficient of friction is relatively smooth and sufficient braking force can be ensured;
